S:P Has a New Logo!

June 2, 2011 - 7:43 PM EDT

Subject: Poker is quite proud to announce that we’ve finally got ourselves a new logo!

Our logo contest was unquestionably a huge success. We received a lot of really awesome logos with a wide variety of design ideas, and almost all of the entries would have made a great logo for this site. Though we were absolutely terrified to have to choose (especially considering that we don’t have good eyes for this sort of thing), one logo just stood out above the rest. You can see it looking beautiful at the top of our page.

The logo was designed by Drew Scherer. He’s a graduate student studying architecture, which doesn’t surprise us, given his obvious design abilities. Before Black Friday, Drew was a NL200 six-max grinder as well. If you’d like to get in contact with Drew, you can e-mail us at team@subjectpoker.com and we’ll put you in touch with him.

We’d like to express our thanks to Drew for creating this awesome logo! In fact, he deserves extra credit for also designing the sweet logo featured at the top of this announcement and on our Twitter page. So, he went above and beyond the call for us, and we really can’t thank him enough.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to say that we’re thrilled with the reception we’ve received from the poker community. Thanks to all those who complimented us, linked to us, provided us with information, corrected our mistakes, and supported Subject: Poker in innumerable other ways. And, of course, thanks to all our readers! Subject: Poker is committed to bringing the poker community quality, unbiased reporting, and that task is made much easier by the warm reception that we’ve received.

If you’d like to be kept up-to-date on Subject: Poker’s reporting, you can follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, or subscribe to our RSS feed.

Yea, I really like this logo and think it represents the site and its purposed content well. Well done Drew!

Also, thank YOU SP and wish you guys the best. We desperately need a poker news site that’s not biased by business relationships such as the affiliate bus. Well that and the people behind it are obv cool. I’d really like to see more from Scot Bell as I think he’s a fantastic writer and I really like his style. As much and as well as he’s done with the UB/AP scandal’s, it’d be cool if he could branch out into some other stories for SP.

I have to be a bit honest… I think the new logo is slightly weak. while it may work well for a header(and it does that well). I think when you begin to think in terms of a long time line as a representation of your new company, it falls far short.

Have you guys tried this logo in color as your header?

I am not criticizing drew, just this incantation of a logo on it’s own merits.

I’d love the opportunity to make some additional designs for you guys if you ever make the transition to marketing items such as hats and shirts… etc. it’s never to early to start thinking about marketing.
